From Friday, February 16 through Sunday, April 15, guests will have the opportunity to interact with Prismatica, a free, temporary public art installation presented in partnership with Quartier des Spectacles and RAW Design and supported by Hilton. ![]() The room I stayed in was nice enough, but had not been detailed cleaned in a while.CHICAGO – Navy Pier, Chicago’s mission-driven cultural district, is bringing a splash of color and beam of light in the form of art to the Pier’s Polk Bros Park this winter. One only gets one chance to make a good first impression. The gals in this area were super nice, but between the two of them those doors should have been clean. Maybe because I'm in the spa industry I'm a bit more sensitive to such things, but dirty is dirty no matter how you spin it. The other turn off was the filthy doors in and out of the workout/steamroom spa area. What I soon found out is that there was no room service, and because the spa lacked any real description of services offered, I chose not to spend my money there, which is sad because I was more than prepared to do so. I chose Kona Kai because it advertised a restaurant, room service, and spa. I was there in order to avoid cooking, cleaning, and to see the sun. That said, the food was good, if overpriced. It's also a loss for the wait staff as they are less likely to be tipped in cash if I can't break a large bill. As cash is legal tender, and I prefer to pay with cash in order to avoid end-of -month bills, this peeved me. What I found most surprising is that this restaurant does not accept cash. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the wait staff friendly and attentive. Since I arrived late in the afternoon, I went to the restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner. No bad energy, and the staff was friendly. Muchof the appeal of Navy Pier comes down to its position on the San Diegowaterfront.
